TTCN-3
Driven by the increasing cost of failure as applications become more complex and pervasive, the perception of testing has shifted from being an afterthought to one of the most critical and strategic processes in the development lifecycle. Consequently, organizations have realized that testing is imperative for reaching today's quality goals. In addition, because testing can take up to 50 percent of project lead time in many industries, organizations are desperately searching for a more efficient, automated test process to significantly reduce lead times and costs. TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation - the name was changed with the third release), the third generation of the TTCN standard, is a rigorous, standardized test language which improves the quality of software applications. TTCN-3, used by the telecom industry for several years, is a flexible language for specifying many types of system tests over a wide variety of communication interfaces. TTCN-3 was designed and developed by ETSI and approved and adopted by the ITU as recommendation Z.140. IBM has actively taken part in the standardization work for TTCN-3, and we are participating in efforts at ETSI to maintain and enhance the language. Based on TTCN-3, Telelogic® Tester™ is a multi-purpose test development and execution platform for automated systems and integration testing. |
